Iowa State University has a long and proud history in the area of athletic training.  The Athletic Training Education Program is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education (CAATE).  Initial accreditation was achieved by (CAAHEP) in April 2001.

ISU Athletic Training has established an award to honor outstanding athletic training students within the program.  The Frank Randall Distinguished Athletic Training Award is named after the former head athletic trainer of 29 years at Iowa State University.  The award will join other established awards honoring the students in the Iowa State University Athletic Training Education Program.
