Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training
The Iowa State University Athletic Training Department is very proud to announce the Iowa Board of Regents has unanimously approved a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training degree. The BS in Athletic Training degree will begin to be offered in August 2012. The efforts of the athletic training education program and staff over the past 18 months to secure this vote has been continual and directed to this ultimate goal. This unanimous vote from the Iowa Board of Regents will solidify our accreditation with the accreditation agency CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education).
Iowa State received initial accreditation in April of 2001 and has received renewed accreditation in 2006 and 2011. The development of this stand-alone degree has been a major area of focus during our last two accreditation cycles. We can proudly claim this distinction and we anticipate excellent reviews from CAATE in future re-accreditation reviews of the Athletic Training Education Program.
A special note of thanks needs to go out to Mary Meier (Athletic Training Education Program – Program Director) and Victor Miller (Athletic Training Education Program – Clinical Coordinator) for their work in securing this unanimous vote from the Iowa Board of Regents. Mary and the department have been working toward this goal for over 10 years. The Athletic Training Education Program would also like to thank Phil Martin (Department of Kinesiology, Chair) and Pamela White (Dean for the College of Human Sciences) for their continued support and effort in this accomplishment.
Go Cyclones!
